The Telde City Council has initiated emergency works on the Avenida de Taliarte to repair a section of the promenade that suffered a collapse and is at risk of further failure.

The Department of Roads and Works of the Telde City Council, headed by Iván Sánchez, has commenced the repair works on the Avenida de Taliarte. The action has been declared an emergency due to the risk of collapse of a section approximately 25 meters long, which has caused its base to sink.
The first phase of the work focuses on implementing precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the area for both citizens and workers. The company Urban 2020, S.L. has been contracted to build a stabilizing wall for the promenade, with the aim of restoring public access.
The works, with an approximate budget of 145,000 euros, are expected to last about a month. Councilor Iván Sánchez highlighted the swift action taken due to the serious risk the situation posed to users, dividing the project into an initial phase of precautionary measures and a subsequent consolidation phase.
Sánchez stated that these are technically demanding works requiring high specialization, with the priority being the safety of the workers. Consequently, a heavy-tonnage crane is used to lift machinery and secure the wall before rebuilding its base, an operation that, according to the councilor, few companies on the island can perform with the necessary speed and quality.
Once the promenade is secured, the project will conclude with the removal of debris that has fallen to the coast and that which remains on the edge of the avenue. The City Council reminds users that the affected area is cordoned off with fences and access is prohibited until the emergency works are completed.
The company Urban 2020, S.L. is also carrying out works on Phase II of the Avenida de Melenara, located a short distance from the Taliarte promenade, possessing sufficient mechanical and human resources to undertake such a significant project.
