The Telde City Council has organized an event of unity, memory, and solidarity for this Saturday at 8:00 PM, at the Rincón Plácido Fleitas, to honor the victims of Venezuela.
The council invites citizens to participate in this emotional gathering, suggesting that attendees may bring a candle, a flower, or any other symbol to pay tribute to those affected by the devastation caused by the recent earthquakes in northern South America.
The municipal institution has expressed its deepest solidarity with the Venezuelan people, a nation facing a tragedy with hundreds of fatalities, thousands injured, and extensive material damage, as rescue efforts continue amidst the rubble.
A message of support is extended to all affected families, with special attention to the large Venezuelan community residing in the Canary Islands and, specifically, in Telde, as well as to the numerous residents of Telde who maintain family and emotional ties with the country.

The profound connection between the Canary Islands and Venezuela, forged through generations of migration and welcome, underscores the significance of this gesture. Thousands of Canarians found opportunities in Venezuela during the 20th century, and in recent decades, that migratory flow has reversed, enriching the archipelago with the presence of thousands of Venezuelans.

The Mayor of Telde, Juan Antonio Peña, emphasized the historical and emotional connection, noting that Venezuela's pain is felt as their own in the Canary Islands. The council remains attentive to the emergency and is exploring avenues for municipal collaboration, in coordination with other administrations and humanitarian organizations.
Peña stated that institutions must stand by those most in need and that any initiative to channel humanitarian aid will be analyzed, recalling Telde's historical solidarity.
