Telde to Host First Edition of Canaluz Cup Youth Football on Canary Islands Day

The youth tournament, promoted by Canaluz and UD Telde, aims to become a sporting and social benchmark in the islands.

The city of Telde is set to become the epicenter of youth football on May 30th, Canary Islands Day, with the celebration of the first edition of the Benjamin Football Tournament – Canaluz Cup – City of Telde 2026.

The Pablo Hernández Morales Stadium, in El Hornillo, will be the venue for this event, which aims to become an unmissable fixture for youth football in the Canary Islands. The day will combine sporting competition with activities that highlight the identity and celebration of this significant date for Canarian society.
The Canaluz Cup, exclusively sponsored by the electricity company of the same name, is presented not only as a competition but as a comprehensive experience for players, families, and fans. Numerous surprises and parallel activities are planned throughout the day to enhance the festive nature of the event.

The official presentation of the tournament took place at the stadium, with the presence of representatives from Unión Deportiva Telde, the Inter-Island Football Federation of Las Palmas, and Canaluz. All emphasized the importance of the initiative for promoting youth sports and projecting the city as a sporting reference.
The competition will feature the participation of ten teams, divided into two groups. The initial phase will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with matches lasting 24 minutes. Subsequently, teams will be divided into a Gold Phase, for the top three from each group, and a Silver Phase, for those ranked fourth and fifth, ensuring competitive continuity for all participants.
Participating teams include UD Las Palmas, UD Telde (with several teams), Arucas B, U. Sur Yaiza, Unión Viera, Tamaraceite, La Oliva, Puerto del Carmen, and Las Longueras, forming a high-level lineup in the Benjamin category. The playoffs and finals will be played from 5:51 PM onwards.
