A large tree fell to the ground this Wednesday on the Tomás Morales promenade, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, near the Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús church.

The incident occurred in a residential area with frequent pedestrian traffic. Sources from the city council's Parks and Gardens department indicated that the tree appeared to be in good condition.
According to initial reports, an underground issue caused a loss of support in the tree pit, creating a void beneath the specimen's base. This reportedly led to its collapse, which also resulted in root breakage, making replanting impossible.

"Residents of the neighborhood have been complaining for months about the condition of some trees and delays in pruning work, stating that several branches even encroach on nearby homes' windows."
