A 29-year-old driver is under investigation by the Guardia Civil as the alleged perpetrator of several accidents on the GC-1. The incidents occurred after a reckless drive of nearly ten kilometers, during which he collided with multiple vehicles and continued driving without stopping. As a result, two people sustained serious injuries, and significant material damage was reported.
The events unfolded on a stretch of the highway between Telde and Carrizal. The Traffic Operations Center (COTA) received numerous calls alerting to the dangerous driving of a car, prompting the establishment of a police operation to locate it, although it was initially unsuccessful.
The investigation progressed after agents from the Traffic Investigation and Analysis Group (GIAT) became aware of several videos circulating on social media that partially captured the events. These images helped delineate the affected stretch and gather information about the vehicle involved.
In the following days, several complaints were filed related to the accidents and the subsequent flight from the scene. The analysis of the videos, witness and victim statements, along with the conducted inquiries, ultimately led to the identification of both the vehicle and the alleged driver.
Officers located the investigated individual, a 29-year-old man, who is allegedly attributed with several offenses, including reckless driving, leaving the scene of a traffic accident, and causing injuries through negligence.
The proceedings initiated by the Guardia Civil have been forwarded to the Instance Section of the Court of Instruction of Telde.
