The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council has approved multi-year spending for two sports facility improvement projects, totaling 3,544,476.33 euros, to create a new space in Nueva Paterna and renovate the El Pilar football field.

The Plenary Session of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council gave the green light this Friday to the multi-year spending authorization for two key municipal sports facility improvement projects. These actions include the creation of a new sports space in Nueva Paterna and the renovation of the pitch and artificial turf of the El Pilar football field.
Both interventions have a combined base tender budget of 3,544,476.33 euros. The distribution of these expenses between the 2026 and 2027 fiscal years requires plenary approval to exceed the maximum multi-year spending percentages allowed by budgetary regulations.
The Councilor for Youth and Sports, Carla Campoamor, highlighted that the objective of these files is to “improve municipal sports facilities and ensure that our clubs, athletes, and residents have adequate spaces for practicing sports”.
The Nueva Paterna project has a base tender budget of 1,605,803.81 euros (including IGIC) and an estimated execution period of ten months. The economic distribution includes 43,493.99 euros in 2026 and 1,722,890.20 euros in 2027.
For its part, the planned action at the El Pilar football field has a base tender budget of 1,938,672.52 euros (including IGIC) and an execution period of eight months. The expense distribution includes 38,479 euros for 2026 and 2,094,060.77 euros for 2027.
The authorization approved by the Plenary Session will allow the multi-year spending limits to be adjusted to the financing needs of both projects, thereby continuing their respective contracting procedures.
