The intervention, managed through the Department of Roads, Works and Lighting, will start on Numancia Street and continue along Párroco Francisco Rodríguez Rodríguez and Lepanto. Temporary traffic cuts are expected on the affected roads, following a set schedule to minimize inconvenience.
The works will be carried out during daytime hours, between 08:00 and 17:00, although on some streets they could extend until 19:00. During the execution, alternative routes will be enabled to maintain circulation in the area and facilitate access to homes and garages, aiming to reduce disruptions for residents and drivers.
The project covers a total of 20 streets, including El Rincón Avenue, Príncipe de Asturias Avenue, Castillejos, Vergara, El Salvador, Espartero, Perú, Puerto Rico, José Mesa y López Avenue (in the section between Plaza de las Américas and Costa Rica Street), Paraguay, Panamá, Portugal, Pelayo, Antonio Medina Vega, Churruca, and Salvador Manrique de Lara.
This action will allow for the renovation of over 43,500 square meters of road surface, with an investment of 1,212,472.73 euros. These works are part of a larger project that includes interventions in the neighborhoods of Escaleritas and Alcaravaneras, with a global investment of 2.89 million euros.
The initiative is framed within the 2024–2031 Paving Plan, a municipal program that foresees the renovation of 474 streets in the municipality, with an estimated investment of 40 million euros. This plan contemplates actions on more than 1.38 million square meters of road and pedestrian surface, incorporating criteria of sustainability, innovation, and efficiency.
Currently, the municipal government has paved or is renovating the road surface on more than 105 roads in different parts of the municipality and plans to intensify the pace of execution during the next year. To date, more than 8 million euros have been allocated, and it is expected to exceed 10 million in new actions until next year, as part of a strategy to improve the city's road network.
