The historic neighborhood of San Francisco in Telde is preparing for an intense weekend of celebrations for its festivals. The program, organized by the Culture Department of the Telde City Council, aims to highlight citizen participation, music, and the neighborhood's memory.
Activities will kick off this Friday, October 2nd, at the Casa de los Sall. At 6:00 PM, the talk-forum ‘Experiences of Women from San Francisco’ will take place, a space to share testimonies and memories from women linked to the historic neighborhood. Later, at 8:00 PM, the ninth edition of ‘Encuentro de Cantautores’ (Singer-Songwriter Meeting) will feature performances by Víctor Lemes, Tony González, Fermín Romero, Sara Brito, and José Artiles.
On Saturday, October 3rd, the music continues at 8:30 PM with the concert ‘Tribute to Bebo’, part of the Jazz Francisco cycle. This concert pays homage to the figure of Bebo Valdés and will feature pianist Cucurucho Valdés, double bassist Javier Colina, and percussionist Inor Sotolongo. The repertoire will include emblematic pieces of Cuban music and original compositions.
The musical finale will be presented by Dominican singer-songwriter Covi Quintana on Sunday, October 4th, at 8:30 PM, in the Plaza de San Francisco. Quintana, a recognized emerging artist, will present her proposal of romantic pop and singer-songwriter music.
The Councilor for Culture, Juan Martel, emphasized the importance of these festivals in highlighting the heritage and identity of San Francisco, a historic neighborhood that the council aims to continue filling with culture and life.
