The official reopening of the emblematic sports venue took place this afternoon, with the presence of the city's mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, accompanied by the Sports Councilor, Alicia Cebrián, and the president of the Tenerife Island Gymnastics Federation, Ana Seco. This intervention is part of the continuous improvement plan for municipal sports facilities, aiming to offer quality spaces for clubs and athletes.
The work, carried out by the company Infraestructuras Deportivas Canarias S.L., has completely transformed the interior of the pavilion. Among the most notable improvements is the integral renovation of the lighting system, which now incorporates more efficient technology adapted to the needs of broadcasts and sports practice. Likewise, the sports flooring has been replaced, a crucial element for the safety and performance of gymnasts and athletes who use the track daily.
Beyond aesthetic and functional improvements, the renovation of the Ana Bautista pavilion has placed a strong emphasis on sustainability. An innovative domestic hot water system using autothermy has been installed, resulting in significant energy savings and a reduction in the facility's carbon footprint. These measures ensure optimal conditions for daily training and official competitions held in the municipality.
“"This action reflects the City Council's firm commitment to providing our athletes with modern, efficient, and safe infrastructures. We continue to advance in improving sports spaces to promote sports practice at all levels."
The Ana Bautista pavilion is considered the heart of rhythmic gymnastics in Tenerife. With this modernization, the Santa Cruz Sports Service ensures that the venue is prepared to host major events and serve as a base for clubs representing the city in national and international competitions. This improvement joins other recent interventions in the capital, consolidating Santa Cruz as one of the Canary Islands cities with the highest per capita investment in public sports infrastructure.
