The 'Welcome to Summer' event in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been a resounding success, with all 500 tickets for the gastronomic area selling out in just two minutes.

The 'Welcome to Summer' celebration in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has exceeded all expectations, particularly in its gastronomic zone. The 500 tickets designated for diners at the white-themed dinner sold out in a mere two minutes, as announced by Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez. This second edition of the event has once again proven its significant appeal to the public.
The mayor explained that tickets went on sale this Wednesday at 10:00 AM and were quickly snapped up. For those interested in attending, the concert area, with a capacity for 4,500 people, will offer free access on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 7:00 PM, with activities commencing at 8:00 PM.
Carmen Pérez, CEO of the Sociedad de Desarrollo, detailed that after an initial sell-out, tickets that were not fully processed became available again and were finally sold by 10:13 AM. This area will feature tables for 4, 6, 8, or 10 guests and will be carefully decorated, allowing attendees to bring their own food or purchase options from establishments participating in Degusta Santa Cruz.
The event will take place on Friday, June 19th, from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, on the esplanade of the Port of the Tenerife capital, blending gastronomy and music. The initiative aims to liven up the city, boost commerce and the restaurant sector, and position the municipality as a cultural and festive hub. Attendance requires white attire.
The musical program will kick off at 8:00 PM with performances by DJ Brito, Estrellas Buena Vista y más, and the orchestra Maquinaria Band. Access to the concert area will not permit food or drinks, but attendees of the gastronomic zone will have free entry.
The Sociedad de Desarrollo is promoting this initiative to encourage active participation from the local economic fabric, particularly in the restaurant, commerce, and leisure sectors. It is conceived as a city activation model that generates economic activity before, during, and after the event, linking local consumption with participation in the festivities.
A 'Welcome to Summer 2026 Experiential Route' strategy will be designed to coordinate the participation of these sectors, creating a network of experiences distributed throughout the city. This route will be structured into three main areas: gastronomy, commerce, and leisure spaces.
As a new feature, during the 'Welcome to Summer' week (June 15th to 21st), the tourist bus of Santa Cruz, operated by CitySightseeing, will be free for residents of Tenerife.
DJ Brito is known for his expertise in salsa, bachata, and merengue. Estrellas Buena Vista y más is a group of 16 musicians blending traditional and contemporary Cuban music. Maquinaria Band, led by Johnny Jiménez, is an iconic merengue and Latin music orchestra with over three decades of history in the Canary Islands.
