A car ended up completely overturned on the roadway in the Ramblas de Santa Cruz, near the Plaza de Toros, severely disrupting traffic in the capital of Tenerife. The strong impact resulted in at least one person being trapped inside the vehicle.
The incident occurred mid-morning on one of the busiest routes, generating significant public attention and kilometer-long traffic jams. According to initial reports, the rollover happened after a prior collision between two vehicles. One of the involved cars lost control violently following the initial impact, hitting road elements and ending up spectacularly overturned.
One of the occupants could not leave the vehicle on their own due to the deformation of the bodywork.
The Emergency and Safety Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 activated a substantial assistance deployment. Several units from the Consorcio de Bomberos de Tenerife, ambulances from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), Local Police patrols, and Civil Protection units were dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters prioritized stabilizing the vehicle and performed extrication maneuvers using hydraulic cutting tools to free the trapped individual. Concurrently, SUC medical personnel prepared life support equipment for initial assessment and immediate transfer to the island's reference hospital.
The Local Police closed the affected lanes on the Ramblas de Santa Cruz, causing significant congestion and diversions to secondary streets. Authorities actively recommend using alternative routes such as the Avenida Marítima or the TF-5 access roads.
Traffic is expected to gradually return to normal after rescue operations, the police investigation to determine responsibility, and the complete clearing and repair of the public road.
