The measure, effective from 08:00 on September 23, is based on forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) and the Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fire Emergencies (INFOCA).
The weather event, driven by a warm air mass from Africa, has also triggered a pre-alert for high temperatures in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria starting Tuesday, September 22. The heat is expected to intensify throughout the week.
In Gran Canaria, temperatures could reach 36 degrees in southern and western areas, while Tenerife is expected to see a significant rise on Thursday. Low relative humidity and moderate easterly winds are increasing the risk in mid-altitude and forest zones.
