The Center for Popular Canarian Culture (CCPC) will host an informative talk this Friday, May 15, in La Laguna about hantavirus, in the context of the recent media debate surrounding the “hantavirus ship.”

The conference, scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM in the Sala San Borondón, will be delivered by a specialist in microbiology and scientific dissemination. The expert will detail the pathogen's description, its transmission mechanisms, and potential future scenarios related to this viral disease.
The event will take place at the CCPC headquarters, located at Daute street number one, in the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The activity is open to all interested members of the public who wish to gain rigorous scientific insight into a topic that has garnered significant media attention in recent days.
The speaker, a Biology graduate from the University of La Laguna (ULL), completed their doctoral thesis in the Microbiology Area of the same institution. Additionally, they hold postgraduate qualifications in Biotechnology, Human Microbiota, and Teaching. Currently, they combine their teaching role at a Vocational Training center with scientific dissemination and activism.
This talk, organized by the CCPC, aims to provide reliable and accessible information about hantavirus, a disease that has re-emerged into public interest following recent reports linked to a vessel under health surveillance.
