More than 800 homes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife are undergoing renovation with an investment exceeding 20 million euros from European Next Generation funds.

Over 800 families in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will benefit from the transformation of their residential buildings, marking one of the largest public investments in residential rehabilitation in the municipality in recent decades. The City Council, through Municipal Housing, is implementing energy efficiency improvements in 803 homes across the Añaza and Los Gladiolos neighborhoods, financed by Next Generation EU funds.
This project, part of the Programmed Residential Environment (ERRP) initiative, mobilizes an investment exceeding 20 million euros. Its primary objectives are to enhance residents' quality of life and foster a more sustainable and accessible housing model.
The interventions are distributed between 521 homes in Añaza and 282 in Los Gladiolos. The works are already underway, with varying completion schedules. Some projects will conclude this summer, while others will extend into late 2027.
The most significant undertaking is in Añaza, involving 381 homes across four residential blocks: C-10 (92 homes), C-13 (97), C-14 (92), and I-19 (100 properties). The budget allocated for these works surpasses ten million euros.
This is complemented by another project in Añaza covering 140 homes in plots I-21-1 and I-21-2, with an investment of over three million euros, also focused on comprehensive building improvements.
The third major initiative is taking place in Los Gladiolos, rehabilitating 282 homes in various blocks. The investment exceeds seven million euros, aimed at modernizing buildings with significant needs in accessibility and energy efficiency.
Beyond exterior renovations, the works include direct improvements for residents, such as installing elevators in buildings lacking them or replacing obsolete ones, a long-standing demand. The plans also incorporate waterproofing, roof insulation, pavement renewal, and the integration of renewable energy systems, like photovoltaic panels for domestic hot water, significantly reducing community energy consumption.
Technical calculations suggest a reduction of up to 60% in non-renewable primary energy consumption, leading to substantial economic savings for families and a decrease in associated pollutant emissions.

"The city managed to secure European funding to develop projects that would otherwise be difficult to undertake."
