The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Anaga District office, has launched a roadmap to enhance and extend bus schedules in the massif, with a focus on line 916.

This initiative aims to strengthen connectivity between the capital's Intercambiador (transport hub) and the neighborhoods of María Jiménez and Los Valles, also including coverage for Cueva Bermeja. The measure comes in response to residents' demands and the need to optimize public transport services in the area.
Recently, the Titsa Urban Works Council had requested the Mobility department to modify line 916's schedules to improve punctuality. However, following requests from residents and the Anaga District itself, the Mobility department has decided to halt these changes. The joint objective of both municipal areas is to ensure punctuality without eliminating existing services, working instead on increasing frequencies to fulfill agreements reached in November meetings.
Currently, line 916's service structure begins at 6:00 AM from the Intercambiador, with departures towards Anaga at 7:05, 8:05, 9:05, 10:30, 12:30, 2:15 PM, 3:30 PM, 4:40 PM, 7:00 PM, and 9:00 PM. In the opposite direction, towards Santa Cruz, service starts at 6:25 AM, with subsequent trips at 7:30, 8:35, 9:35, 11:00, 1:00 PM, 2:50 PM, 4:00 PM, 5:10 PM, 7:30 PM, and a final departure at 9:25 PM. Additionally, from Monday to Friday and on weekends, the bus provides service to the Cueva Bermeja area once a day before ending its route in Los Valles.
Neighborhood demand particularly focuses on increasing connectivity during Saturdays and Sundays. Currently, the weekend service operates with seven buses. The first departure towards the Anaga nuclei is at 7:05 AM and the last at 7:25 PM. Towards the Intercambiador, the schedule begins at 7:40 AM and concludes at 8:00 PM.
Line 916's itinerary covers key points of the capital, including Avenida Marítima, Plaza de España, Avenida Francisco La Roche, Avenida Anaga, Valleseco, and El Bufadero, before entering María Jiménez and Los Valles. With this new mobility strategy, the City Council aims to guarantee an agile transport service that meets the real needs of residents in the peripheral neighborhoods of the Anaga massif.
