The Local Police staff in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has decided to stop working overtime as a pressure measure due to the lack of progress in labor negotiations.

The police force is in a standoff with the City Council over the lack of updates to the Job Position Relationship (RPT), an evaluation that has been pending since 2004. Officers argue that this review is necessary to align their conditions with the actual duties, risks, and responsibilities of their service.
The decision was ratified during an assembly held on July 2nd, where workers expressed their dissatisfaction with what they describe as a repeated failure to meet commitments made by the municipal administration. The measure means officers will limit themselves to their regular working hours, refusing to cover voluntary services or special operations outside their shifts.
The dispute coincides with a period of high service demand, including fire prevention in the Anaga area and managing staff summer vacations. Meanwhile, the City Council has opted for caution and hopes that the sectoral meeting scheduled for next week will allow for a resolution through dialogue.
The union representation, supported by various organizations, insists that the withdrawal of voluntary work will continue until significant progress is made. Additionally, there are internal disagreements regarding the future of the Unipol unit, whose configuration and working conditions remain a key point in the staff's demands.
