The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council and Local Police have designed an extraordinary traffic plan for June 12 due to Pope Leo XIV's visit, which will include massive closures, vehicle removal, and public transport modifications.

The capital of Tenerife is preparing for a historic event with a special traffic operation coordinated by the City Council and Local Police. Pope Leo XIV's visit on Friday, June 12, will involve the lockdown of main avenues, affecting access roads, parking lots, and public transport.
The plan includes the closure of key access points such as the southern penetration highway (TF-4) from 03:00 for authorized personnel and completely from 09:00, except for escort vehicles. A restricted lane will be maintained for exiting the city southbound.
Restrictions will be divided into three phases: closure of the event area (06:30-17:00h) on avenues like Constitución, Marítima, and Francisco La Roche; dynamic closure of the papal delegation's arrival route (10:00-12:30h) through various main streets; and closure of the pontiff's departure route (13:00-14:00h) which will divert traffic via Buenos Aires avenue and Calderón de la Barca street.
Numerous vehicles parked on key streets such as Méndez Núñez, El Pilar, Villalba Hervás, and the Marítima Avenue, among others, will be towed. The Parque Marítimo parking lot will be reserved for the organization and authorized vehicles, while those at Palmetum and Recinto Ferial will be prohibited. The inner platform of Avenida Marítima will close several days prior, and the Intercambiador parking lot will be designated for the Titsa bus fleet.
Bus lines to Anaga (910, 916, 917, 945, 946, and 947) will modify their routes, unable to reach the Intercambiador and with a provisional stop at Muelle Norte. A special shuttle bus service will be provided between the Intercambiador and Muelle Norte.
