The citizen laboratory ‘Suroeste Experimenta’ has been launched in El Sobradillo, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, enabling residents and collectives to propose and develop projects that address the neighborhood's needs.

Promoted by the Directorate General of Transparency and Citizen Participation of the Government of Canarias in collaboration with the Santa Cruz City Council, this initiative will allow residents, collectives, and entities in the neighborhood to contribute ideas and work together to improve their surroundings. The call for proposals will be open until November 14th, focusing on eight strategic challenges linked to the territory's needs.
The Director General, Carmen Delia Alberto, highlighted that the objective is to create a co-creation space where citizens can actively contribute to change, strengthen neighborhood relations, and foster collaboration with public administrations.
For his part, the councilor for the Southwest District, Javier Rivero, emphasized the neighborhood's participatory nature and noted that the project will contribute to the joint construction of the city and the development of the district.
The areas of action include economic revitalization, entrepreneurship, neighborhood identity, community coexistence, utilization of public spaces, sports, sustainable development, environmental awareness, art, culture, and inclusion.
The process includes the submission of ideas until November 14th, project selection on the 15th and 16th, and registration for collaborators for the working teams from November 17th to 29th via the website www.canariasexperimenta.com. Activities will commence on December 1st.
Citizen Laboratories are co-creation spaces promoted by the Government of Canarias to design solutions for specific problems and develop projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
