The ordinary session of the 2026 PAU commences this June 2nd in the Canary Islands, bringing together 10,684 students who will face the exams until June 5th. The tests will take place at the two public universities of the archipelago, the University of La Laguna (ULL) and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), featuring an evaluation model aimed at assessing the practical application of knowledge.
The ULL hosts 5,466 students, spread across three venues in Tenerife: Guajara, Adeje, and Puerto de la Cruz. The Science and Technology track is the most popular, followed by Humanities and Social Sciences. Meanwhile, the ULPGC will examine 5,284 students in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura, with a similar distribution in terms of the most in-demand study branches.
One of the main novelties of this edition is the expansion of examination venues to a total of 14 locations throughout the Archipelago, aiming to facilitate student mobility. In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, seven venues have been set up, including new locations in La Palma (Los Llanos de Aridane) and Fuerteventura (Tuineje). This logistical deployment involves the transport of materials and personnel to ensure impartiality.
Exam supervision also presents new features, with a particular focus on detecting new technologies such as smartwatches or devices with cameras. Radio frequency detection systems will be implemented in some venues to locate Bluetooth or Wi-Fi signals, in order to prevent and nullify any instances of fraud.
