The Government of the Canary Islands has opened the public information period for the new Master Plan for Use and Management (PRUG) of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, allowing citizens and entities to submit contributions for two months.
The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands has launched the public information, hearing, and consultation phase for the new Master Plan for Use and Management (PRUG) of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park. This process, which will last for two months, aims to encourage citizen participation, allowing any individual, entity, or administration to review the document and make their contributions.
The new PRUG is designed to replace the plan in force since 2005, with the objective of adapting the park's management to current conservation challenges and the evolution of activities carried out in its surroundings. This document is considered an essential tool for the protection of one of the most emblematic natural areas of the Canary Islands, seeking a balance between environmental preservation and its enjoyment by the public.
Interested parties can access the documentation and submit their contributions through the Citizen Participation Portal of the Government of the Canary Islands, as well as through other channels enabled both in person and online. The preparation of this plan has been the result of an exhaustive analysis and study process, which has involved public administrations, social groups, scientific entities, and various agents linked to the park.
With this initiative, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to participatory management of natural spaces, moving towards the definitive approval of a document that will be crucial for the future of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park.
