The Canarian Executive has launched the public participation process for the new 2026-2030 Housing Plan. Through this procedure, residents of the archipelago can submit suggestions and observations that will be integrated into the document guiding housing policy in the coming years.
The Canary Islands Housing Plan 2026-2030 is conceived as the key strategic document to define housing policy lines in the islands during the specified period. Its aim is to establish concrete measures focused on housing access, the promotion of public housing, boosting the rental market, and residential planning.
This plan is particularly relevant in a context marked by housing access challenges, especially concerning the rental market. The Government of the Canary Islands has enabled the citizen participation portal for anyone to submit ideas, suggestions, or observations to the document online.
All information and plan phases will be published on the official Government of the Canary Islands portal, centralized under the “Featured Processes” section. Citizens can submit proposals on key areas such as housing access, public housing promotion, the rental market situation, and planning for new residential developments.
The primary objective is to gather input to align public policies with the archipelago's social reality. Rising rental costs and difficulties in accessing a primary residence are significant factors in the document's development, with its measures set to directly impact future housing policy.
