The General Directorate of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) has launched an initiative to bring blood donation closer to citizens through mobile units distributed throughout the archipelago. These campaigns complement the fixed donation points already operational on each island.
In La Gomera, a mobile unit will be available during the XV Gomera Paradise Sky Race this weekend, with afternoon hours on Friday and morning hours on Saturday. Concurrently, bone marrow donation is being promoted in Tenerife, next to the Cathedral of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, and in Gran Canaria, in the Alfredo Krauss area.
Solidarity will also reach the Puerto de los Cristianos, in Tenerife, where a team will travel for the 'Reto Gran Guanche' cycling event on Saturday afternoon. The university hospitals of Tenerife (Hospital Universitario de Canarias and Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria) and Gran Canaria (Hospital Universitario Insular) will also have donation points over the weekend.
In Tenerife, the Plaza de España in the capital will host a mobile unit on Monday and Tuesday. Specific collections will be held for the Guardia Civil in Ofra on Monday morning. Additionally, the Feria Renacer at the Tenerife Exhibition Center will be the venue for a campaign from Friday to Sunday. Other locations such as El Sauzal, Guía de Isora (Playa San Juan), Fasnia (Las Eras), Valle de Guerra, and La Laguna (next to the Cathedral) will also have mobile units available on different days and times. The donation room at the Multicentro Comercial El Trompo, in La Orotava, will maintain its usual Monday to Friday schedule.
Gran Canaria will have donation points in Arucas (plaza de la Iglesia de Santidad) and El Puertillo on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. In Mogán, the mobile unit will visit the plaza Pérez Galdós in Arguineguín, the sports complex, and the town hall, concluding the week next to the Hotel Cordial Playa. A point will also be set up at the Gando Air Base and at the Alcampo Shopping Center.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will have donation points at the Centro Comercial Deiland and at the university hospitals Doctor José Molina Orosa (Lanzarote) and General de Fuerteventura. Prior appointment is recommended for the latter.
In La Palma, the Hospital Universitario General offers fixed extraction points from Monday to Sunday, with extended hours. For La Gomera and El Hierro, the hospitals Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe and Nuestra Señora de los Reyes, respectively, have fixed points with specific schedules, and information and appointments are available by phone.
