The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has announced that all positions offered in Specialized Health Training (FSE) for the 2025-26 call have been filled in the archipelago. This includes all positions for resident internal physicians and nurses (MIR and EIR), as well as other healthcare categories.
The Canary Health Service (SCS) offered a total of 465 positions, the highest figure to date in the Canary healthcare system for specialist training. This offering represents a significant increase, with 141 more positions than in 2018 and 29 more than in 2023, placing growth above the national average, which stands at 3%.
This year's call in the Canary Islands has incorporated five additional positions compared to the previous one and has introduced, as a novelty, training in Immunology and Emergency Medicine. In the field of Primary Care, the maximum accredited quota was filled with 122 positions, of which 92 correspond to Family and Community Medicine and 30 to Family and Community Nursing.
The Ministry has highlighted the boost given to the Mental Health block, which adds 41 positions as part of a strategic initiative to strengthen this area. Specifically, 12 Psychiatry positions, 10 Clinical Psychology positions, and 17 Mental Health Specialist Nursing positions have been allocated. Additionally, two positions for child and adolescent psychiatry were included within the overall specialized health training count.
