The initiative, aiming to combine household energy savings with local business stimulation, will be operational from September 15th via the platform gestion.planrenovecanarias.es. The program has a public investment of two million euros, with 1.6 million allocated to vouchers.
The Vice President of the Canary Islands Government and Minister of Economy, Manuel Domínguez González, highlighted the measure's impact on the commercial fabric and the purchasing power of Canary families, promoting responsible consumption and economic activity.
For his part, the Minister of Ecological Transition and Energy, Mariano H. Zapata, emphasized that energy transition is also achieved through daily decisions in homes, encouraging citizens to be active participants in decarbonization by replacing old appliances with more efficient equipment.
Aid is divided into two categories: up to 250 euros for general consumers and up to 450 euros for vulnerable individuals, applicable to 'combi' refrigerators, dishwashers, dryers, washing machines, and induction hobs. Up to five appliances per person can be renewed.
To access enhanced amounts, vulnerability must be proven through a certificate, social electricity voucher, or Minimum Vital Income resolution. Interested parties must apply for the voucher before purchasing the appliance; once issued, it will be valid for 15 days for redemption.
The management of the program will be handled by the federations Femete (Santa Cruz de Tenerife province) and Femepa (Las Palmas province), who will support both buyers and participating stores. The campaign is planned until December 15, 2026, subject to fund availability.
The plan also includes an environmental aspect, ensuring that old appliances are managed through authorized waste channels, promoting material recovery and a circular economy.
