This allocation is part of a national investment of 198,704,000 euros, agreed upon by the Council of Ministers. The funds, managed through the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030, will be transferred to regional governments, which are the competent administrations in social services, to finance programs at both regional and local levels.
Of the total amount, Canarias will receive 3.3 million euros for social intervention projects and benefits aimed at families with minors at risk of poverty and social exclusion. These funds will cover basic needs such as hygiene, food, and clothing, as well as educational expenses like school supplies and dining assistance, and resources for basic household utilities.
Additionally, the VECA program is included, which will guarantee the basic right to food, leisure, and culture for minors during school holidays, facilitating family and work reconciliation during non-school periods.
A second program, endowed with 1.1 million euros for Canarias, will focus on strengthening social services teams. Its objective is to prevent and detect any risk of violence against children, investing in professional profiles in social work, social education, psychology, and family care, and promoting greater coordination with educational and health centers.
Finally, the Basic Social Services Benefits plan, with 5.3 million euros for Canarias, will ensure access to essential services such as social guidance, home care, alternative accommodation, and social prevention and integration programs. It will also support the operation of shelters and reception centers, crucial for responding to people in situations of special vulnerability.
