The test, which took place last Saturday, September 19, was held at the only accredited venue in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. The hospital welcomed candidates from the region and even from other countries.
This exam, supervised by a representative of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC), is conducted at nearly 100 accredited centers worldwide. The test lasts a total of four hours, divided into two two-hour blocks, each consisting of 60 multiple-choice questions.
ESAIC is the European organization for Anesthesia, Critical Care, Pain, and Perioperative Medicine, with objectives focused on patient safety, quality of care, and the training and research of anesthesiologists.
To obtain the EDAIC, candidates must pass two exams. The first, held this Saturday, is the written test. The second consists of an oral examination before a tribunal that assesses the specialist's judgment capacity through clinical cases.
The fundamental objective of this evaluation, aimed at third and fourth-year resident medical interns as well as Anesthesiology specialists, is to establish a high and uniform standard of knowledge throughout Europe.
