The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has issued a health alert following the withdrawal of a batch of Deluxe brand smoked salmon, sold at Lidl in the Canary Islands, due to the risk of contamination with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes.

The supermarket chain Lidl has proceeded to withdraw a specific batch of Deluxe brand Norwegian smoked salmon with pistachio from its stores in the Canary Islands. This measure is taken after a possible contamination with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogen that can cause the disease known as listeriosis, was detected.
According to information provided by Aesan, the affected product corresponds to batch LC22606501. It is presented in 100-gram plastic blister packs, is sold refrigerated, and has an expiration date set for April 18, 2026. The manufacturer of this product is Compagnia del Mare.
The alert was activated when Compagnia del Mare identified the potential bacterial contamination during its routine quality controls, which led to the preventive market withdrawal. Although the initial distribution was concentrated in the Canary Islands, health authorities do not rule out that the product may have been redistributed to other autonomous communities.

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) recommends that people who have this product in their homes refrain from consuming it. Likewise, it advises going to a health center if the affected salmon has been ingested and symptoms compatible with listeriosis, such as vomiting, diarrhea, or fever, are present.

For its part, Lidl has announced that customers who have purchased the affected salmon can return it to any store in the chain. They will receive a full refund, even without needing to present the purchase receipt. The company has emphasized that no other product in its catalog has been affected by this alert.
Finally, the manufacturer Compagnia del Mare has expressed its apologies to consumers for the inconvenience caused and has reaffirmed its commitment to food safety and customer protection.
