The public company Gesplan hosted 280 students for training internships across the seven Canary Islands during 2025 and the first half of 2026, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year.

The public company Gestión y Planeamiento Territorial y Medioambiental (Gesplan), under the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion, and Water, has completed the practical training for a total of 280 students during 2025 and the first half of 2026 across the archipelago's seven islands.
Throughout the past year, 141 students concluded their theoretical training with internships at Gesplan, while in the first six months of 2026, 139 individuals did the same. This figure represents a substantial increase from the 120 students who completed internships at the commercial company in 2024, underscoring the entity's dedication to the education of Canary Islands students.
The CEO of Gesplan, Miguel Ángel Pérez Hernández, highlighted the "company's commitment to investing in and strengthening resources that allow us to ensure adequate support for interns and thus collaborate in the training and qualification of students." He emphasized the dedication of the assigned staff as tutors to ensure an optimal and rewarding experience.
Pérez Hernández further stated that this collaboration with training centers and universities facilitates the transition from academic studies to the professional world, promoting the acquisition of practical experience in real work environments. This initiative not only boosts employability and professional growth but also contributes to retaining young talent in the archipelago and fostering a more innovative public administration.
While a significant portion of students focus on environmental areas, Gesplan receives internship requests across all its work lines, including animal welfare, sustainability, emergencies, territorial planning, finance, legal affairs, and human resources. Students come from vocational training centers, university degrees, and professional certifications, with a higher concentration of internships in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, though participation is registered from all islands.
With 35 years of experience, Gesplan has established itself in the archipelago in territorial planning, management, ecological transition, climate action, environment, emergencies, sustainability, circular economy, animal welfare, and project development, utilizing cutting-edge digital technologies. The company has undergone a process of renewal and modernization, focusing on innovation, internationalization, and the sustainable development of the territory.
