The Guía City Council, located in Gran Canaria, has requested collaboration from state, regional, and island administrations to address the eviction of approximately 200 people from a municipal building, scheduled for June 30.

The local corporation justified this request, made via a statement, due to the scale of the situation and the impending judicial eviction. This eviction, initiated by the company owning the property known as Casa de Mr. Leacock, exceeds the scope of purely municipal capabilities.
The council considers a coordinated intervention by various public administrations essential. The aim is to ensure the safety of those affected, a responsibility that would fall to the Government Delegation, as well as adequate socio-health care from the Canarian Health Service and the Regional Government of Canarias.
Additionally, temporary housing resources and other necessary measures are required, whose management would correspond to the Island Council. Currently, the building houses approximately 200 people, including minors and vulnerable citizens, which has prompted the urgent request for action from the Local Government Board.

The adoption of this agreement responds to criteria of prevention, social protection, public health, and safety, as well as the need to anticipate the consequences of the imminent judicial eviction.
