The Canarian Lateen Sailing Federation of Boats has decided to postpone the inaugural regatta of the 2026 season, the Port Authority Opening Competition - Las Palmas Port Foundation, due to forecasts of light and southerly winds that do not guarantee optimal conditions for the competition.

The competition, initially scheduled for Saturday, April 18, has been delayed by one week, now taking place on Saturday, April 25 at 5:00 PM. This decision was made by the Federation itself after analyzing weather reports, which indicated a scenario incompatible with the regulatory parameters of Canarian Lateen Sailing and could compromise both the safety of the crews and the proper development of the event.
The Governing Board had already assessed the situation on Thursday, leaving open the possibility of postponement and announcing that the final decision would be communicated at noon on Friday. This procedure aims to minimize disruptions to the teams' planning.

"The postponement is a responsible decision, aimed at preserving the safety of the crews and ensuring the competitive level of the regattas, two essential aspects of Canarian Lateen Sailing."

With this adjustment, the Aguas de Teror Championship will also shift its start, commencing on Sunday, April 26 at 12:00 PM with its first day. The Federation, chaired by Manolo Farías, has rearranged the start of the 2026 season calendar by applying Rule 42 of the General Race Instructions. This change allows for the maintenance of the calendar structure approved by the General Assembly and ensures the best sailing conditions for the fleet in the bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
