This program, promoted by the Government of Canarias through the General Directorate of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries, brings together 16 creators, both local and international. They will work on seven feature films, seven series, and two animation projects, all supported by a team of renowned screenwriters and specialists who will act as mentors throughout the creative process.
Participants began their stay in Tenerife and will travel to different islands to conduct on-site research, thereby enriching their scripts. This edition has exceeded expectations with 356 applications, solidifying IsLABentura as a national benchmark in the sector.
The selected stories cover a wide range of genres and themes, from historical narratives linked to the Canary Islands, such as the figure of the Guanche Petrus Gonsalvus or the nun known as «La Siervita», to contemporary proposals exploring identity, work pressure in tourist areas, social media addiction, or artisanal fishing.
The training itinerary combines in-person sessions and online work. After this initial phase in Tenerife, the screenwriters will reconvene in July in La Gomera and in October in Gran Canaria. During these meetings, they will present their projects to local, national, and international production companies to secure funding and development. Since its inception, IsLABentura has fostered over fifty scripts, several of which are already in the audiovisual production phase.
This edition has registered a record participation, with 356 applications, confirming the consolidation of the laboratory as a national reference.
