The Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Carolina Darias, has confirmed that the restoration works at the Nestor Museum will not be halted, rejecting a partial suspension request from the executing construction company.

Although the construction firm requested a partial work stoppage last week due to detected issues, the project's site management deems the suspension unnecessary. The Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council is in continuous technical dialogue with the company to ensure the project's progress.
The Mayor emphasized the significance of the Nestor Museum and the goal of fully opening it to exhibit the artist's works. Darias highlighted ongoing collaboration to minimize disruptions, acknowledging that unforeseen issues can arise during such projects.
One identified problem concerns the foundation, stemming from a higher-than-expected volume of sand compared to the initial geotechnical study. The site management and the contracting company are addressing these matters to find solutions.
