Argentine forward Nico Brussino has been recognized as the best player of CB Gran Canaria for the 2025-2026 season, receiving the CANARIAS7-Pepe Moriana Santisteban Award for the second time.

The versatile player from Gran Canaria, Nico Brussino, will receive the CANARIAS7-Pepe Moriana Santisteban 2026 Award this Saturday, a distinction that names him the best player of Dreamland Gran Canaria for the current campaign, based on the opinions of fans and online readers of the newspaper.
Brussino secured the award with 43% of the votes, surpassing teammates Pierre Pelos and Isaiah Wong. This marks the second trophy for the Argentine international, who previously won it in 2023. His teammate Andrew Albicy is the only other player to have achieved this recognition in the two preceding editions (2024 and 2025).
«I feel very happy about it,» the player acknowledged during a ceremony held in his honor. Brussino emphasized the importance of feeling valued by the fans, especially during challenging times for the team. «It also means that my work at Gran Canaria is noticed externally, so I am very happy that people appreciate that.»
The arrival of coach Néstor Che García has boosted Brussino's performance, improving his offensive statistics, three-point percentage, and his connection with the fans. The 33-year-old player, standing at 2.05 meters, is in his sixth season with the club and has become the sixth all-time leading scorer with 1,965 points, aiming to reach 2,000.
Furthermore, Brussino ranks among the top in converted three-pointers with 325, nearing the records of historical players like Jason Klein and Jim Moran. His legacy at the club extends to other statistics such as free throws, rebounds, assists, and efficiency rating, demonstrating an «intimately yellow» career.
«Being part of Gran Canaria's history is a personal achievement for me, so I am very happy. And hopefully, I can repeat it,» added Brussino, who shared anecdotes with Pepe Moriana and Néstor Che García.
Regarding his potential contract renewal, the player expressed his desire to continue on the island: «It's a difficult decision, but yes, I would love to stay here. I've been here in Gran Canaria for over five years and I'm very happy. I really like the island, but well, everything will be seen soon.»
