The promoter of the Rally Islas Canarias has expressed great satisfaction with the recent edition of the event, which celebrated its golden jubilee with a world-class competition. Despite various setbacks, the organization successfully overcame challenges, receiving
“"very good and positive"
reports from the International Automobile Federation (FIA). The race, held in Gran Canaria, saw Sébastien Ogier claim victory and has secured its place on the world championship circuit for at least three more years.
The 50th-anniversary celebration was a special occasion, featuring a presentation at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium that attracted numerous fans and motorsport legends. Additionally, a documentary was produced, chronicling the history of the competition and highlighting efforts to involve the public in this milestone.
Regarding the cancellation of a stage, the promoter indicated it was an isolated incident caused by individuals who, in his opinion, are not true fans and sought to disrupt the event. Despite this inconvenience, swift action allowed for the second pass of the stage to proceed. The FIA commended the organizational effort, estimating a 35% increase in spectator attendance along the routes.
The super special stage at the Estadio de Gran Canaria was another highlight, designed to offer an exciting spectacle with tight turns and narrowed asphalt to increase difficulty. Both the public and the FIA highly praised this innovation. The organization is already planning future editions, aiming to maintain high standards and continue innovating, striving to consolidate the rally among the world's best.
