A banner displaying the message "Canary Islands for Sale" has been removed from Roque Nublo, one of the most iconic and protected natural monuments in Gran Canaria. The island corporation denounced the act on its social media, describing it as an attack on the environment.
A specialized team of climbers and agents from the Cabildo was responsible for taking down the fabric installed on the emblematic rock. The institution emphasized that, while the protest expressed on the banner might be considered "legitimate," the chosen location for its display "is not compatible with its protection."

The institution recalled the importance of respecting the natural environment to maintain the balance between public enjoyment and the conservation of these areas. They insisted that "respect to ensure it remains compatible is fundamental," referring to the recreational and sporting use of Roque Nublo, a symbol of Gran Canaria protected for its significant landscape, geological, and environmental value.
To date, the Cabildo has not provided information regarding the authorship of the action or whether any sanctions will be pursued following the banner's removal.
