The regional channel has strengthened its connection with younger viewers, increasing its audience in the 25 to 44 age segment by 4.8 percentage points. This rise, from 4.8% in April 2025 to 8.4% in April 2026, represents a 75% growth, a key data point guiding the public entity's content strategy.
“"The strategic importance of Televisión Canaria's growth consolidating among the young public, at a time when new consumption formats, the universalization of content, and the growth of the offer increasingly disperse the audience."
This increase is particularly valuable, as the 25 to 44 age bracket is the most competitive in the current audiovisual ecosystem, with viewers prone to migrating to streaming platforms and social media. The fact that Televisión Canaria has grown in this segment, while linear television loses consumption minutes to the Internet, suggests that its programming, brand identity, or content offering is resonating with active middle-aged Canarians.
The channel is positioned as the second choice in audience share for this demographic, only surpassed by Telecinco, and outperforming channels like Antena 3, La 1, or La Sexta. April's data confirms that the commitment to new formats such as CHOSS, the interview with Quevedo, and the Canarias Play platform is attracting new viewers and rejuvenating the audience.
Overall, Televisión Canaria consolidated an audience share of 7.9% in April, representing a 1.7 percentage point increase compared to the same month last year (6.2%). This result marks the best April in the last fourteen years, surpassing the 7% recorded in 2013. The channel remains the most-watched public television in the Islands for the third consecutive month and holds the third position in the ranking of generalist channels.
Since September 2025, the channel has accumulated an increase of 1.5 percentage points in share, rising from 6.4% to 7.9%, making it the generalist channel with the most growth in the Canary Islands during this period. Each day, 341,000 Canarians connected with the channel, and a total of 1,255,000 viewers (56.4% of the Archipelago's population) watched it during the month.
The Telenoticias editions closed April with a 13.2% audience share and 48,000 viewers, with an accumulated reach of 791,000 Canarians (35.9% of the population). The lunchtime news program from Monday to Friday consolidates its leadership in its time slot. The news services as a whole reached an 11.5% share and an average of 28,000 viewers, improving by 2.2 percentage points and 6,000 viewers compared to the previous year, with over 883,000 Canarians following the news programs.
