The Coalición Canaria group in the Antigua Town Council has urged the municipal corporation to find urgent solutions for the shortage of Local Police officers, a situation causing concern among residents.

The nationalists have voiced their apprehension regarding the gradual reduction in the Antigua Local Police force, which hinders effective 24-hour service coverage. This situation has led residents to feel helpless and unprotected at certain times.

"There are times when the municipality is left without the necessary coverage, which generates a feeling of helplessness and lack of protection among the residents of Antigua."

CC Antigua acknowledges the dedication of the municipal police officers, who often have to work double shifts to ensure citizen service. However, despite this commitment, the lack of personnel remains a critical issue.
Therefore, the political group has requested that the mayor immediately ask for reinforcement from state security forces in the municipality. This measure is deemed necessary until the five pending Local Police positions, which depend on the unified call from the Government of Canarias, are filled.
