The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Fuerteventura Health Services Management, has announced the reopening of the La Vega de Río Palma Health Center in Betancuria. The facilities have undergone renovation works that began last November and were carried out by the Betancuria City Council.
The works included interior and exterior sanitation of ceilings and walls, roof waterproofing, pillar reinforcement, and a complete painting of the building. This center, which serves a population of 95 users, features a Family and Community Medicine consultation and a Nursing consultation. It is attached to the Puerto del Rosario Basic Health Zone.
During the renovation period, healthcare services were temporarily relocated to the health centers in Betancuria and Valle de Santa Inés to ensure the continuity of healthcare for the local population. The Fuerteventura Health Services Management has expressed gratitude for the understanding of users and professionals.
Furthermore, the Minister of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, Esther Monzón, recently informed the Parliament of the Canary Islands about advancements in healthcare infrastructure in Fuerteventura. She highlighted the improvement and expansion of the Gran Tarajal Health Center, the construction of the new Corralejo II Dunas Health Center, the review of the expansion project for the Costa Calma local clinic, and the establishment of a new urgent care point in Antigua. The project for the Matorral Local Clinic and the improvement works for the Morro Jable Health Center will also be put out to tender soon.
