The Department of Culture of the Valleseco City Council, through the Municipal Library, is organizing the presentation of the book 'Valleseco between the mists of history', authored by researcher and educator Miguel González Pérez. The event will take place on Saturday, June 13th, at 8:30 PM in the Teodoro Cardoso León House of Culture, as part of the San Vicente Ferrer festivities.
The publication invites readers to discover the episodes, characters, and heritage treasures that have shaped the historical evolution of Valleseco from the 18th century to the present day, based on rigorous research using historical documentation and local archives.
The work traces the origins of the municipality to the construction of the hermitage of San Vicente Ferrer and the establishment of the saint's brotherhood in 1746. Despite challenges stemming from its geographical isolation and adverse climate, the community succeeded in consolidating a strong, distinct identity.
Through its pages, the author explores the history of the parish church's construction, the evolution of religious and social life, and the formation of significant artistic heritage, including images, relics, liturgical items, and furnishings linked to the history of the parish and its residents.
One of the book's notable aspects is the recovery of lesser-known historical events that link Valleseco to significant episodes in the history of Canarias and Spain, occurrences previously hidden in archives now brought to light by this research.
