The mobile unit will be set up in front of the Casa de la Juventud, offering services both in the morning and afternoon. The operating hours will be from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 17:00 to 20:30 hours on both days, thus facilitating citizen participation.
The objective of this initiative is to bring the solidarity of blood donation closer to the municipality's residents and ensure that the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) has adequate reserves to meet the needs of the Archipelago's hospitals. The importance of regular donation, at least twice a year, is emphasized.
Blood cannot be manufactured artificially, so donors' collaboration is essential to save lives. Each donation is a simple and solidary gesture.
In addition to the mobile unit, there are fixed donation points in Gran Canaria. The main headquarters is located at Calle Alfonso XIII, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, open Monday to Friday from 9:15 to 20:30 hours. The fixed point in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, at the annex of the Vecindario Health Center, has specific hours next week.
Donations can also be made without an appointment at several hospitals: the Insular Hospital (floor 0) from Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 19:30 hours; the Maternal and Child Hospital (floor 3 of the Mar building) from 10:30 to 14:00 hours; and the Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín University Hospital from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 19:30 hours.
Hospiten Roca San Agustín offers donations by telephone appointment on Fridays from 8:00 to 14:00 hours.
The requirements to donate blood include being between 18 and 65 years old (up to 60 for a first-time donation), weighing over 50 kilograms, being in good general health, and not being pregnant.
