The well-known El Secuestro restaurant in Teror, owned by José Hernández, is preparing to reopen its doors on April 23 at a new location, just one hundred meters from its previous site, after a collapse caused by storm Therese.
The establishment, a landmark on Teror's Avenida del Cabildo since 1979, suffered the collapse of a rear wall on March 24 due to heavy rains from storm Therese. This incident, which undermined the hillside supporting the business, led to the sealing of the premises and created uncertainty about its future.
“
"A neighbor offered us the option of renting her premises, which she had recently been using for events. We are very grateful to her and have quickly regained our enthusiasm."
Despite initial discouragement, José Hernández found a solution just one hundred meters away, on Santiago de Cuba street, next to Avenida del Cabildo. This new location, previously an event hall, has allowed the team to regain hope and begin the moving and adaptation work.
Currently, the team is busy relocating furniture and equipment. The pizza oven has already been installed, and the grill for meats is being finalized, aiming to maintain the essence and service that have characterized El Secuestro for decades. The reopening is scheduled for April 23, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the restaurant.

"This has been a stumbling block, but we have been able to move it aside and move forward with this new challenge that we will begin on April 23 with the utmost enthusiasm and with the intention of continuing to offer our usual service and essence to our clientele."
The swift action to find a new location has been a relief for the nine employees of the restaurant, who, along with loyal customers, have shown their support during these difficult weeks. The municipality of Teror, affected by storm Therese, will thus recover one of its most emblematic establishments, looking to the future with renewed hope.
