The transport company Global has activated its operation for the traditional El Pino Pilgrimage in Teror, expecting to serve more than 75,000 people. This initiative aims to meet the high demand from faithful traveling to the town, building on last year's record passenger numbers.
As a key novelty, the Teror Bus Station will temporarily close from 11:00 AM on September 7th until 8:00 AM on September 9th. During this period, pick-up and drop-off points will be relocated: to Avenida del Cabildo for those coming from Tamaraceite, San Telmo, Arucas, Firgas, Gáldar, and Guía; and to the Los Castaños plot in the Los Llanos neighborhood for routes heading to Valsequillo, San Mateo, Santa Brígida, Telde, Agüimes, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, and Valleseco.
More than 200 buses will be mobilized, particularly during the evening of September 7th and the early morning of September 8th. The peak demand is anticipated between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM, following the fireworks display, with a capacity to dispatch one bus per minute to facilitate the return of approximately 3,000 passengers per hour.
Saulo Castro, Global's deputy director, reminded passengers that for routes departing from the Los Llanos neighborhood, tickets can be paid directly on the bus. However, for journeys originating from Avenida del Cabildo towards Tamaraceite and San Telmo, pre-purchasing tickets at the ticket office will be mandatory for cash payments.
The entire operation will run continuously for 35 hours, from 8:00 AM on September 7th to 12:00 AM on September 8th, totaling 2,600 trips and covering 58,000 kilometers.
The mayor of Teror, José Agustín Arencibia, encouraged attendees to use public transport, citing the town's limited parking capacity on the day of the pilgrimage.
