Temperatures in the Canary Islands will continue to rise this Sunday, exceeding 34 degrees Celsius in various parts of the archipelago, where dust haze and strong winds will persist, according to Aemet.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has warned that the week of May 25th to 31st will be extraordinarily warm for this time of year across most of Spain, and particularly in the Canary Islands archipelago. Mercury is expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius in some areas, especially in the southern interior of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura.
Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria, excluding the northern part of the latter, are under a yellow alert for high temperatures this Sunday. Today's predicted highs are 28 degrees in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 25 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with lows of 20 degrees in both capitals. Winds will be moderate from the northeast or east, with strong gusts on coasts and mid-mountain areas.
The dust haze will mainly affect the eastern islands, though more lightly in mid-mountain and high-altitude areas. Minimum temperatures will see a slight rise in the eastern province and little change in the western one. Maximum temperatures will also increase, especially on northern slopes, potentially exceeding 30 degrees in the mid-mountain areas of the central islands.
For Tuesday, intervals of medium and high clouds are expected, with the dust haze receding, although it will be more present in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Minimum temperatures will vary, while maximums might decrease on the eastern islands. Nevertheless, temperatures are expected to exceed 34 ºC in the southern interior zones of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria, and 32 ºC in the mid-mountain areas of Tenerife and La Gomera.
The forecast indicates that this situation of high temperatures will extend until the middle of next week. In the Canarian waters, winds from the northeast or east are expected with force between 4 and 6, moderate to strong swell, and a northerly sea swell of 1 to 2 meters.
