The town of Teror has broken a record at the first 'United by Flavor' Chorizo Fair with the creation of a 670-meter long sandwich, distributing over 10,000 free portions.

Sintes square in Teror was the scene this Saturday of the first 'United by Flavor' Chorizo Fair, a gastronomic event that gathered hundreds of people and highlighted one of the most representative products of Canarian cuisine.
The main attraction was a gigantic Teror chorizo sandwich, measuring 670 meters in length and made with 1,265 loaves of bread. Over 10,000 portions were distributed free of charge to attendees, including gluten-free options.
The initiative, organized by the Association of Businessmen of Teror (Aseteror) and the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, with the collaboration of the Teror City Council, Clipper, and Aguas de Teror, and funded by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, aimed to pay homage to Teror chorizo, an emblem of the municipality.
The sandwich preparation, coordinated by Aridane Rivero with the help of about fifty volunteers, began at 5:00 AM. Distribution started shortly before 10:00 AM, due to the large crowd eager to try the sandwich, for which approximately 491 kilograms of chorizo from the 'Los Nueces' and 'Terorero' brands were used.
The fair featured chorizo producers from various islands, such as Cumbres Herreñas from El Hierro and Chorizos Chacón from Lanzarote, in addition to local producers of cheese, bread, and beverages, creating a showcase of Canarian artisanal products.
The event also included a program of musical performances, with the Parranda de Teror at midday and Tata Band in the afternoon.
The fair marks the start of the 'United by Flavor' Gastronomic Route, which will run until July 19th. During this period, participating bars and restaurants will offer tapas and sandwiches featuring Teror chorizo at prices ranging from three to five euros.
Additionally, a gastronomic competition will be held among the participating establishments to promote culinary creativity and boost commercial and hospitality activity in Teror.
