The municipality of Teror prepares to celebrate Corpus Christi this Sunday, June 7, reviving the tradition of carpets and altars in its streets.

The Corpus Christi festivities will be experienced with special fervor in Teror this Sunday, June 7. The tradition of creating carpets and altars in the historic town center's streets continues for another year, serving as the path for the procession that will take place after the 7:00 PM mass. As is customary, children who have received their First Communion at the Basilica of Teror will actively participate in the parade.
The celebration will extend to other neighborhoods. In Arbejales, carpets will surround the church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the same Sunday. Meanwhile, El Palmar will advance the festivities to Saturday, June 6, at the parish of Ntra. Sra. de las Nieves.
Approximately forty carpets are expected to adorn the streets of Teror's old town, thanks to the involvement of dozens of residents, collectives, and associations. The Department of Festivities of the Teror City Council, led by councilwoman Angharad Quintana, is collaborating by providing the necessary materials for the creation of the tapestries upon request, and encourages citizen participation in this deep-rooted event.
Due to the carpet-making process, traffic will be closed on Herrería, Párroco Obispo Pozuelo, Camino del Castaño, and Párroco Juan González streets. These closures will be in effect from 8:00 PM on Saturday, June 6, until 11:00 PM on Sunday, June 7, once cleaning operations are completed. Specific diversions have been established, such as access to Basayeta via Barrio El Pino and the closure on Herrería street from its intersection with Calle Nueva.
The schedules for carpet creation vary by street, starting on Saturday, June 6, at 4:00 PM on Calle Herrería and pedestrian areas, and at 6:00 PM on Camino El Castaño. On other streets, work can begin at 8:00 PM on Saturday, continuing until 4:00 PM on Sunday.
The Corpus procession in the old town of Teror will depart from the Basilica del Pino on Sunday after the 7:00 PM mass. It will proceed through Herrería, Párroco Obispo Pozuelo, Camino del Castaño, Párroco Juan González, Riego, and Real de la Plaza streets, which will be decorated with carpets made from natural materials, flowers, salts, and pigments.
