The town of Valsequillo is preparing to host the eleventh edition of its traditional Strawberry Fair this Sunday. The event, running from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, will take place in and around Plaza Tifariti, bringing together approximately 30 stalls dedicated to the direct sale of local strawberries and related products.
The day promises a complete experience for attendees, including dessert contests for both professionals and amateurs, cooking demonstrations (show cooking), and tastings. Additionally, a food area and musical performances will be available to enhance the atmosphere.
The City Council has organized a special security operation to ensure the event's logistical success, particularly addressing traffic issues from previous years. There has been a significant increase in personnel: 20 local police officers, 20 members of Civil Protection, and the participation of the Guardia Civil and the Policía Canaria. Efforts are also underway to secure the Unidron unit from the Telde Local Police again.
This edition marks a milestone by integrating the fair into the pilot project 'Gastromercado Km0 Valsequillo', funded by the Next Generation EU Funds and the 'Naturaleza en Flor' Tourism Sustainability Plan. The Councilor for Local Development, Víctor Navarro, emphasized the framework's importance in valuing the primary sector and reinforcing the municipality's rural identity.
Stalls will be distributed around Plaza Tifariti and along Dr. Francisco Rodríguez, Isla de la Gomera, and Isla de Tenerife streets, ensuring clear access to the municipality's Health Center.
