The Valsequillo City Council inaugurates the 'Casa del Senderista' in Era de Mota this Saturday, a new facility with 30 beds aimed at boosting rural and active tourism.

The municipal hostel in the Era de Mota neighborhood, Valsequillo, will officially open its doors this Saturday as the 'Casa del Senderista' (Hiker's House). This initiative aims to enhance the municipality's accommodation capacity, considered a strategic hub for rural and nature tourism, facilitating contact with the environment and the practice of outdoor activities through its extensive network of trails.
The new 'Casa del Senderista' has a total capacity of 30 beds and has been equipped with furniture, kitchenware, and blinds. The local council has established through an ordinance that this space will be exclusively dedicated to hikers.
To mark the inauguration, a day of activities has been organized, including three morning hiking routes: Caldera de Los Marteles-Era de Mota via Los Alfaques; Caldera de Los Marteles-Era de Mota via Los Roques (the Blue Tajinaste Route); and Casco de Valsequillo-Era de Mota. The official inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 PM, followed by a tour of the facilities and a popular lunch in the Era de Mota square.
In the afternoon, from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the first Mountain Fair will be held. This event will feature recreational activities such as a climbing wall and orienteering races, alongside stands from clubs, specialized companies, and several talks.
The project, which has taken several years to complete, culminates with the installation of a mural depicting elements of Valsequillo's identity, such as its landscape, hiking, and local flora. The 'Casa del Senderista' aims to boost hiking in a municipality with significant potential in its network of trails, highlighting routes like those in Rincón de Tenteniguada and the Caldera de Los Marteles.
