The emblematic Plaza de Tifaritti in Valsequillo transformed for an intense week into the stage for the 30th edition of Vóley Plaza Valsequillo, one of the most anticipated sporting and leisure events of the summer. The event gathered a total of 225 unique athletes, reaching 365 combined registrations across various disciplines.
The tournament's deep roots, celebrating three decades of history, were evident not only in the increase in participants but also in their loyalty, with up to 80 athletes re-registering for more than one discipline.
The initiative, born in 1996 with the aim of bringing the coast's main attractions, sand and volleyball, to the heart of Valsequillo, has grown from its beginnings into a full week of activities. During the afternoons, the sand served as the stage for children's and youth disciplines such as Bola Plaza, Basket Plaza, Balonmano Plaza, Fútbol Plaza, and the children's prelude to Vóley Plaza.
The main event, adult Vóley Plaza, led registrations with 134 participants. The generated excitement led to the division of the day into two groups: one for residents of Valsequillo and another for teams from other municipalities. The Plaza de Tifaritti hosted twelve uninterrupted hours of sport and celebration, consolidating the event as a space for meeting and friendship.
During the closing ceremony, the Councilor for Sports, Víctor Navarro, highlighted the historical significance of the event, stating that "reaching the three decades of Voley Plaza [...] demonstrates that outdoor sports and the community spirit in Valsequillo are more alive than ever." For his part, the mayor, Juan Carlos Hernández Atta, emphasized the human aspect of the initiative, thanking the athletes for their loyalty and the organizing team's work.
