The municipality of La Frontera, on El Hierro island, is celebrating the eighth edition of ‘November, Month of Wine’, an initiative promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands through GMR Canarias, which combines wine tourism, gastronomy, heritage, and local identity to boost the economy.

The eighth edition of ‘November, Month of Wine’ is presented as a tool to boost the local economy, highlight the wine heritage, and reinforce the identity of the municipality of La Frontera, on El Hierro. The project is part of Dinamiza Rural, an initiative by the Government of the Canary Islands, managed by GMR Canarias, aimed at boosting economic activity in rural municipalities.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty, Narvay Quintero, and the mayor of La Frontera, Pablo Rodríguez Cejas, presented the initiative last Friday, October 30. They were accompanied by the Councilor for Local Development, Marcos Antonio Casañas Barrera, and the president of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Vinos de El Hierro, Wolfgang Padrón. The program connects the wine sector with gastronomy, heritage, culture, and tourism.
Narvay Quintero highlighted the importance of wine in La Frontera as a productive and cultural heritage, noting that initiatives like this raise the profile of winemakers' work and strengthen the local economy. For his part, Pablo Rodríguez Cejas emphasized that the event is an essential part of the municipality's identity and collective memory, closely linked to the vineyard and the traditions of the countryside.
The initiative is supported by the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin El Hierro, whose president, Wolfgang Padrón, stressed the importance of collaboration in promoting the quality of the island's wines. Councilor Marcos Antonio Casañas Barrera explained that the program aims to bring wine culture closer to citizens and boost the sector.
This year's program includes the tapas route ‘El Vino Manda’, the technical tasting Magmawine focused on volcanic wines, paired tastings, a theatrical route, a wine painting workshop, and an introductory wine tasting course, among other activities.
