The El Hierro Council has announced in Venezuela its commitment to reinforce healthcare for the Hierro community residing in the country, following meetings with representatives from the Fundación España Salud and the Asociación Civil Amigos del Garoé.

The island institution has highlighted the importance of medical-pharmaceutical assistance provided to vulnerable Spanish emigrants. This coverage includes primary, specialized, hospital care, and the supply of medicines, guaranteed through public agreements for those lacking sufficient resources.
To access these services, it is essential to be enrolled in one of the current programs or agreements and to prove the lack of health coverage. In recent months, nearly a hundred Hierro residents have received care thanks to the active agreement between the El Hierro Council and the Fundación España Salud.

"This figure demonstrates the importance of this resource for the island community abroad."

The Hierro institution has reiterated its firm commitment to maintain and strengthen this line of support, being recognized by the Foundation's officials as one of the pioneering Spanish administrations in direct assistance to its citizens in Venezuela.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the headquarters of the Asociación Civil Amigos del Garoé, the entity that extended the official invitation to participate in the celebrations of the Pastores festival. The meeting served to update the association's status, understand its current needs, and explore avenues of collaboration to restore its role as a direct channel of support for Hierro residents in Venezuela, especially in the management and distribution of aid.
